Touch Screen Usability & Competitor Analysis

For my first assignment on the touch screen, I conducted an in-depth competitor analysis of small touch screens to identify key design trends and user pain points. I then led a usability test focused on icon size, acuity, and visibility, assessing how well users could interact with the screen. Additionally, I performed a Kano analysis to prioritize the most essential features users expected and needed.

As the program progressed, I worked closely with UI designers to refine the UI workflow. Through a series of A/B tests, we tested variations of icons and flow structures, optimizing the touch interface for an intuitive user experience.

Swipe Sensors & Gesture Testing

As part of the program's development, I conducted a competitive analysis on earbud gesture controls for media playback, calls, and volume control. This research led to multiple usability tests on touchscreen and earbud gestures, ensuring that the gesture controls were intuitive and responsive for users. I focused on gesture accuracy and ease of use, balancing innovation with user expectations.

Ergonomics Testing

I collaborated with the team on ergonomic testing for the earbuds, focusing on fit, comfort, and stability. We tested both short-term and long-term wear to assess user comfort during extended use. Our testing included variations of ear tips, which led to a running design change to enhance comfort and support, improving long-term usability.

Accessibility Testing

Towards the end of the project, I led efforts in accessibility testing to ensure the earbuds met the needs of a diverse user base. I created a comprehensive accessibility checklist based on established design guidelines and conducted tests with users who have color blindness, vision impairments, and mobility challenges. This testing ensured our product was inclusive and accessible to all users, improving the overall user experience.
